Excerpt from Reports of Committee Appointed by the Board of Controllers of Public Schools, of the First School District of Pennsylvania: On the Condition of the Several Schools in the Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, and Eleventh School Sections At a Meeting of the Board of Controllers of Public Schools, of the First School District of Pennsylvania, held on Tuesday, January 12th, 1847, the following report was read and adopted: To the Board of Controllers: The Committee appointed on the 29th of July last, "To visit the Fifth Section, and to examine and report to the Board whether a more perfect organization of the several schools in the Section cannot be effected, with special reference to their consolidation, and a reduction of the expenses," Respectfully submit the following report: That the several schools in the four Townships of Oxford, Lower Dublin, Byberry and Moreland, which comprises the Section, and which comprehends one third of the territorial limits of the First School District, have all been visited and examined by the Committee, except two small schools in the Township of Oxford. A Map of these Townships accompanies this report, on which the position of the several school houses is distinctly marked and numbered, and to which the Committee beg reference.
