It is not the business of a college to furnish brains. A college is a mill, and the character of the flour which comes from the sieve depends largely upon the quality of the grain which goes into the hopper. No college faculty can get something out of nothing. You can highly polish maple or marble; you cannot polish cheese or chalk. It has been often and conclusively demonstrated that money cannot purchase capacity. A fool brayed in the college mortar, even with the best presidential pestle, is a fool still.
