Resolved, by unanimous vote, that the thanks of this Board be presented, in behalf of the City Council, to Peleg W. Chandler, Esq., for the able and eloquent Oration delivered by him, before the Municipal Authorities of the City, at the recent celebration of the Anniversary of the Declaration of the Independence of the United States; - and that he be requested to furnish a copy of the same for the press. A true copy of Record. Attest, S. F. McCleary, City Clerk. City Hall, July 9, 1844. Sir, I have the pleasure to communicate to you a vote of the Board of Aldermen, requesting a copy of your Oration, delivered on the fourth of July, for publication. And I take this opportunity to thank you for the sound and manly sentiments you expressed, and I have no doubt that the publication of your eloquent Address, at this time, will be conducive of much good.
