It was from no lack or decay of ability, scholarship, and zeal, within her own borders, as every succeeding lecture shows, that the Free Church, in this case, went beyond them, but in the same enlarged and generous spirit which has marked her whole history. May this spirit be cherished and displayed on all sides; and then the visible unity of the branches of the Christian Church - a unity which transcends all remaining differences, however these may be severally regarded - will be one of the best replies to unbelief, and one of the greatest helps to the edification of the body of Christ.
