Excerpt from Laws and Resolutions Passed by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina: At the Special Session, Begun and Held in the City of Raleigh on the First of July, 1868 The following Acts, forming part of the Code of Civil Procedure, passed at the Special Session of the General Assembly, 1868, are published in the Code and not in this collection of the Laws: I. The first part of the Code of Civil Procedure. II. An Act entitled, "An Act concerning the powers and duties of Clerks of the Superior Court." III. The second part of the Code of Civil Procedure. IV. An Act entitled, "An Act concerning the powers and duties of Clerks of the Superior Courts, as Judges of Probate." V. An Act concerning "The Courts of Justices of the Peace and Civil Proceedings therein." VI. An Act concerning the fees of Clerks of Superior Courts, Sheriffs, Register of Deeds, Solicitors, Coroners, Constables, Justices of the Peace and Jurors. The custom of supplying words in brackets, [thus] in order to sustain the sense of the context, in obvious mistakes in the enrolled acts, has been abandoned in this publication, and the laws are published in strict accordance with the text of the originals on file in the office of the Secretary of State.
