William S. Cohen presiding. Present: Senator Cohen. Senator Cohen. [Presiding.] Today, the Committee on Government Affairs is pleased to welcome Ronna Lee Beck, Linda Kay Davis, Eric Tyson Washington, and Inez Smith Reid, nominees for 15-year terms on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. Ronna Lee Beck is being nominated to be Associate Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. She has been a solo practitioner since 1985. Prior to that, she was an associate and partner with Rogovin, Huge & Lenzner, and served as staff attorney for the Public Defender Service. She also served as a law clerk to the Hon. Theodore Newman of the D.C. Superior Court. She received her B.A. from the University of Michigan and J.D. from Yale. Linda Kay Davis is being nominated to be Associate Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. She has been Chief of the Criminal Section of the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice since 1984. She has over 20 years of experience practicing criminal law, primarily as a prosecutor, but also as a defense attorney. She received her B.A. from Berkeley, and J.D. from Harvard. Eric Washington is being nominated to be an Associate Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. He has been a partner at Hogan and Hartson since 1990. He has over 10 years of experience in private practice. He was the principal Deputy Corporation Counsel in the Office of Corporation Counsel for the District of Columbia. His background also includes serving as a senior associate trial attorney at Fulbright and Jaworski and Legislative Director and Counsel to former Congressman Michael Andrews. He received his B.A. from Tufts and J.D. from Columbia. Inez Smith Reid is being nominated to be Associate Judge of the D.C. Court of Appeals.
