Reply: Beloved Brethren, - In compliance with your unanimous request for a copy of the funeral discourse delivered on the assassination of our Chief Magistrate, together with a letter addressed by me to his excellency under date of September 11, 1861, for publication, is hereby cheerfully complied with. Feeling satisfied that if anything presented by me shall redound to the elevation of our race and the good of our common country, God is glorified; therefore, I faint not, but feel encouraged, especially when my labors are appreciated by you.
