Bishop Huntington´s early religious experience was unusual, and that is given in his own words. Other considerations beside the inadequacy of the editor for theological and historical labors were taken into account in confining the work to a limited space. It would not have been consistent with the personality portrayed to reproduce, merely for the honor paid to their subject, the noble and eloquent tributes rendered him in press and pulpit, and only those are here preserved which throw a direct light upon traits of character. The writings of Frederic Huntington, in the course of two generations, have reached people in all lands who never saw his face or heard his voice. In the field of education alone thousands of teachers have drawn help and inspiration from the little book, "Unconscious Tuition." His sermons and devotional volumes continue to awaken to righteousness, and bring spiritual consolation to earnest souls.
