In the three volumes, entitled respectively "Les Soirees d´Orchestre," "Les Grotesques de la Musique," and "A Travers Chants," there might have been found several chapters of more serious value to the art of Music than many that I have selected; but they only cover ground that has been gone over often before, and do not throw so much light upon Berlioz´s own intrinsic nature as do some of the apparently more trivial selections I have preferred to make.
