Produktbeschreibung
Excerpt from Letters to the People of Great Britain, Respecting the Present State of Their Public Affairs Great Britain is a nation claiming to be free, claiming the civil rights belonging to men in society, and claiming the terms on which her magistrates and ministers hold the offices of government. It is, therefore, for you, the people of this country, to consider the propriety of continuing the war; and if you should be resolved to put an end to this calamity, happily for your quiet, you possess the means, without having recourse to violence, and without appealing to the principles which arc the basis of every political association, and the last resort of every oppressed people. And, in calling upon you now to consider your present situation, my case, I confess, appears to me to be most fortunate. To enter into argument with the venal despoiler of the poor, the mean betrayer of his trust, and the unabashed astertor of his crimes, is a task for which I have no faculties; and the speculation never had an object in it to tempt me to the trial. But you are the injured. And, while I am suing to you for a hearing, I am pleading for you. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
