Excerpt from Five Years in Ireland 1895-1900 The popularity enjoyed by Five Years in Ireland is, perhaps, more conclusively proved by the many requests received for a cheap edition than by any other circumstance. The difficulties under which the work was originally published, its bulk, and the number of illustrations, involved so much outlay that it has been impossible, hitherto, to meet the wishes of those who found a seven-and-sixpenny edition beyond their reach. Now, however, in order to forward the good cause which I have at heart, this edition has been produced at the popular price of three-and-sixpence nett, containing thirty-one pages of illustration, and printed from the same plates used in the dearer editions. Author´s Note The persons whose portraits appear in "Five Years in Ireland" have no responsibility whatever for the Author´s opinions.
