The above sentence from a review in the Athenæum of May 21st, will be a sufficient explanation of, and excuse for, the words on the title-page, "honestly criticised." The italics are not those of the journal, but added here to mark the openness of confession, and, at the same time, the curious reservation in favour of Mr. Cox´s work on the "Myths of the Aryan Nations," as if in any case so perfunctory and essentially dishonest a method could be excused.
