J Rev. and Dear Sir: - In these latter days the controversy that has centred around the Person of our Divine Lord has tended to divert the minds of men from the great evangelical teachings concerning the Personality and work of God the Holy Ghost. Few honor Him as they should. Fewer still address prayers and worship distinctly to Him, the Third Person of the Ever Blessed Trinity; and we fear that many earnest people, who claim to be Christ´s disciples, might almost say, "We know not whether there be a Holy Ghost." In view of these facts, and thoroughly believing that a clear and forcible exposition of the teaching of the Church regarding the Holy Ghost as the Lord and Giver of Life, would result in great good to the hearts and souls of men, we most cordially invite you to deliver, in this city during the ensuing month, a course of Conferences on "The Functions of the Holy Ghost."
