I dined at Lord Spencer´s yesterday. There were Lady Spencer, Lady Pembroke, Lord Pembroke, Windham, Canning, Lord Malmesbury, Elliot and I. The Duke of Portland was also there; and it is impossible to say what he reports of the King´s favour towards me, and the satisfaction he expressed at this measure.
