These "Letters" in their inception were intended only for the one person or "Orphan" to whom addressed, and numbered only three or four. The recipient, recognizing some benefit in them to herself, encouraged the author to go on and write some more; and later suggested that they be revised and put in permanent form. The author, therefore, feels it a pleasant duty to give credit for the existence of these "Letters" to one who, for eight years, was a faithful helper, and who in the later years of her service took such a personal interest in office matters as to make her invaluable.
