Produktbeschreibung
Excerpt from Correspondence of William Ellery Channing, D.D., And Lucy Aikin: From 1826 to 1842 In the year 1826, the Rev. Dr. Channing sent to Miss Aikin his work on the Character and Writings of Milton, which he had published in the United States. She wrote her acknowledgments to the author, whom she had met at her aunt Mrs. Barbauld´s house in Stoke Newington while he was on a short visit to this country. Thus began a correspondence which continued for nearly twenty years, and ended only with his death. The letters, at first somewhat formal, gradually ripen into expressions of warm friendship and the freest communication of the sentiments of the writers on subjects of the deepest interest in politics, theology, literature, the state of society, and the manners and condition of the people of their two countries.
