Produktbeschreibung
Excerpt from The New Jersey Scrap Book of Women Writers, Vol. 1 The last article for The New Jersey Scrap Book has been placed in the hands of the printer. The index arranged, the title-page provided, a little history of the work of the Board of Women Managers prepared by our Secretary, Mrs. Roebling, the preface only is needed. Perhaps it is as well to answer for the last time the question that has been most frequently asked: "What is The New Jersey Scrap Book for?" When the Commission appointed the Board of Women Managers last June, each member was asked to attend to a certain line of work, and that of collecting a library of the writings of the women of New Jersey was given to the compiler. This work was begun in October last. Several complications arose. It was found that, though many writers lived and wrote in New Jersey, their works were published in New York. There also appeared to be a number of women writers who had never written books, yet were constant contributors to the magazines and newspapers of the day. With the hope of collecting their names and some short articles from their pens between the two covers of a book. The New Jersey Scrap Book was thought of, and the writers appealed to. Two hundred and seventy have responded favorably; a few have preferred to be identified with New York. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
