Excerpt from The Forgiveness of Sins: A Study The following pages contain the substance of a course of lectures given at Cambridge in the spring of 1915 to a class consisting chiefly of candidates for the ministry of the Church of England. Some of the materials have been supplied by earlier courses on Confession and Absolution (1902), and the New Testament Doctrine of Sin (1907), and I have also used a course on Penitence which was addressed to the clergy of Leeds in 1903. Much of the first and third parts of this book was given in the form of Lenten instructions at St. Mary´s, Hitchin, during the Lent of the present year.
