The writer has endeavored in every scene to veil this moral, and trusts - though not openly thrust into notice - it has been sufficiently developed to be visible even in a careless perusal, and that the reader will not lay the book aside, feeling that he has been unable to derive from it one moral lesson or profitable reflection.
