Produktbeschreibung
Excerpt from America´s Great Peril A sensitive man naturally shrinks from publishing what he knows will be repudiated by many of his fellow-citizens; but if he be a true man, he will not ask, "How will this be received?" but "Is it truth?" "Ought to publish it?" "Duty belongs to us; results, to God," is a worthy motto. The writer of the following pages has devoted much of his life to the work of education; and the following pages serve to set forth, in very plain style, the views which he entertains on the subject of "Public Schools." Believing most confidently that the present system of education, now especially that the Bible cannot longer be retained in free schools, is fraught with great danger to the civil and religious liberties of our people; and believing, also, that, by the timely co-operation of Christian people, they may avert the threatened and (if not averted) inevitable evil that must result from the suicidal policy of attempting to educate the youth of the land in schools from which religion and morality must be excluded: the author has ventured to set forth these pages; and, should this unpretending essay serve to quicken thought on the vital issues connected with Public education, he will not regret the labor bestowed upon it; and should his views be generally repudiated now, he feels sure that the time will come when they will be appreciated.
