The few changes introduced, apart from those universally adopted, are mentioned in the Notes; but it is obviously inconsistent with the purposes of the edition to include any discussion of textual difficulties. In general, the Introduction and Notes are designed to furnish the material necessary for the intelligent appreciation of the play by the student, but not to make excursions into the many interesting fields constantly opened to view. In the preparation of the Notes Mr. Aldis Wright´s edition of Julius Cæsar was used so freely and gratefully as to deserve particular mention.
