Certainly children should not get the idea that wars and politics constitute the whole of history. Much of the material herein used is original. It has been obtained through original investigation and research, and has never before been published. Many facts used were gotten from histories of Tennessee by Ramsay, Haywood, and Garrett and Goodpasture. These splendid books contain a veritable storehouse of valuable historical material and will hold an important place in the history of the state.
