Produktbeschreibung
Excerpt from Address Before the Common Council and Citizens of the City of Schenectady, July 4, 1865 On the 4th July 1776, the delegates of the people of thirteen district Colonies, occupying territories on this continent, and having severally a political existence under charters from successive kings of Great Britain, in General Congress assembled, in the name of the people of these Colonies, solemnly declared, "that these United Colonies were and of right ought to be free and independent States," and "that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain was and ought to be totally dissolved." This sublime manifesto to the civilized world, was a transcendant exercise of that primordial and ultimate right which, under the laws of nature and of nature´s God, belongs to every people, to establish, alter and abolish their own systems of government.
