Excerpt from Transactions of the Association of American Physicians, Vol. 9 The duties of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer shall be those usually assigned to these officers. The Recorder shall secure the papers read and also proper notes of the discussions thereon, and shall publish the annual volume of Transactions. The five Councillors shall constitute a Committee of Nomination of Officers, and as such shall present a report at the commencement of the morning session of the last day of the annual meeting, at the conclusion of which session the election shall be held by ballot. The Representative on the Executive Committee of the Congress shall have full power to represent the Association on all ordinary questions, but must be authorized by the Council of this Association before assenting to the admission of any Society to the Congress. Article V. Council. The officers of the Association shall constitute the Council, of which four members shall constitute a quorum. It shall be the duty of the Council to supervise the affairs of the Association, to make all the arrangements for the annual meeting, to suggest the subject for debate, and to consider the nominations for membership and report on them at the meeting at which they shall be balloted on. Article VI. Meetings. 1. The Association shall hold an annual meeting in the City of Washington, D. C., at a time designated by the Council. 2. The President shall call the meeting to order and open the session by an address not exceeding half an hour in length. In his absence the Vice-President shall preside, and in the absence of both these officers, the senior Councillor.
