His letters, (often written from prison,) to friends beset with almost every form of temptation and trial, are so full of faith and peace, that they seem worthy to be compared with the spiritual letters of Fenelon. These selections are made from a collection of his letters published a number of years ago, with some passages from his other writings. I am indebted for important portions of the introduction, to "The Penns and Peningtons of the Seventeenth Century," by Maria Webb.
