These sermons were not written with a view to publication, and I do not deem them exhaustive of the subject, nor worthy of the flattering notice they have received. Yet, if they have meta felt want with you, they may, with Gods blessing, do as much for others. Yielding, therefore, to your judgment rather than to my own, I cheerfully accede to your request. But, in so doing, will ask your permission to do away with the sermon style, to rearrange somewhat the order of treatment of the different topics, and to make such other modifications as shall present the subject-matter of these discourses in a form better suited for general reading, and especially more convenient as a manual of reference on the subject of the Sacraments.
