Excerpt from Medical Directory of Greater Boston In presenting the Fifth Edition of the Medical Directory of Greater Boston, the Editor desires to direct the attention of the medical profession to the numerous changes noted: The reorganization of the State Board of Health, and the enactment of new health laws; the new medical registration law; the Federal narcotic law; the reorganization of the Boston Board of Health, and to the numerous changes in the data of individual physicians and institutions. The necrology list is the largest in the history of the Medical Directory of Greater Boston. Much has transpired since our last publication, and Greater Boston is again found as a contributor to a good cause. Medical units, medical supplies and financial aid have been freely given to all combatants in the present European war, by the medical profession of Greater Boston. Our sympathy goes out to the medical profession of Europe in this greatest of human slaughters of modern times. We sympathize with them because we know that the war did not have the sanction of the medical profession in any of the belligerent countries. Our profession stands for the alleviation of pain and suffering and preservation of human life, and hence it always stands for peace, no matter where it is located.
