William Allen was married February 16, 1733 - 1784, to Margaret Hamilton, daughter of Andrew Hamilton,by whom lie had four sons and two daughters, as follows: John Allen, born about March, 1730; died February, 1778. It is to William Allen that the present location of the State House is due, as he purchased the ground with his own money, and held it until the province was able to reimburse him.
