Excerpt from Catholic Scripture Manuals: The Gospel According, to St. Mark, With Introduction and Annotations This little Manual has been compiled in the hope that it may be useful in preparing young Catholics for the University Local Examinations, and to our Catholic pupil-teachers. It is the work of one who, having been a practical teacher for over twenty-five years, has had every opportunity of acquiring a certain experience in preparing pupils for these examinations. The following special features will, it is believed, make it helpful to both teachers and students: - 1. The addition of the Latin text of the Vulgate will be found useful in Colleges and High Schools where Latin is taught. It will save both time and expense to have the Latin and English text of the Gospel in parallel columns. 2. The "Text and Annotations" (Part II.), with a few selections from the Introduction (Part I.), and "Side-Lights" (Part III.), will amply cover the ground for junior pupils. Fuller details for more advanced pupils have been given (when necessary) in the "Additional Notes," the sections of which correspond with those of the "Text and Annotations." 3. A special Atlas has been published separately. Thus the pupils can always study with the maps and plans before them. The Atlas will serve for the whole series of "Catholic Scripture Manuals." 4.
