The works of the great writers on Fever are so numerous, and in the present day are scattered through so many languages, that they are difficult of access, not only to students, but also to practitioners. I shall deem myself fortunate if I can in any measure supply the want which is felt in this respect. As it would not be possible to embrace in a single volume all the varieties of Fever, I have thought it best to deal only with those forms of the disease which are of most practical importance.
