He Author of a Letter from a ByStander to a Member of Parliament, feems to inlinuate by the Title, that he is an impartial Writer; though the whole Tenor of his Performance, evidently refutes all his Pretenlions to that Character. He fets out with profelling a Regard to his Country, and a Dere of correéting fome miaken Notions in the People ofBrimin, which are the Motives of his Writing; Profefons which colt very little to Writers who have no Regard to Truth, and which are ever made by thofe who nd it neceary to deceive a Nation, beforc they can effect its Ruin.No Conftitution was ever yet fubverted under any other than fair Pretences; but Impoor: are known by tbeir Fruits, and the Vanity of their Pretences is difcovered by the Methods they take to fupport them, and by the Nature of the Meafures they recommend.
