D., and the Secretary of the Society were appointed a Committee to prepare a statement of the facts, from the beginning to the present time, of the long pending controversy between the Governments of England and Liberia touching the Northwestern territory of the Republic of Liberia. At a meeting of the Executive Committee held June 8, 1883, the Committee charged with its preparation presented and read the accompanying statement: which, at a meeting of the Executive Committee held February 1, 1884, was ordered to be printed for private circulation.
