Produktbeschreibung

Excerpt from Autobiography and Diary of Elizabeth Parsons Channing, 1907: Gleanings of a Thoughtful Life This book was written by Miss Channing at the suggestion of two of her pastors, Mr. Mott and Mr. Lawrance. Owing to the removal of the former to Europe, the task of preparing the manuscript for printing has fallen to the latter. To read these pages, some of them many times, in her clear handwriting, has been a great pleasure, marred, however, by the necessity of striking out many passages, lest the book should be too large. The cost of publication has been borne by Miss Channing´s two surviving sisters, and the book is presented to the American Unitarian Association, and through them to the public, in the hope that it may be of some benefit to those who read its pages. It thus represents a labor of love, continued through several years by the author, and then carried forward by others in the same spirit, and in the line of her own life work. "It was the dearest wish of Miss Channing´s heart," writes Mr. Mott, "to advance the cause of pure Christianity. She grieved over the fact that while so much money was given to almost all secondary causes, that of the church, of worship, was much overlooked.
