Theron. Anderson, Hellier, T. Searle, Wood, Dr. Hewat and Dr. De Jager. Your Committee. having taken evidence and having considered the matter referred to them, beg to report as follows: - (1) Petitioners for the repeal of the first part of the Contagious Disease Act advance the following against the act: - (a) The degrading and humiliating effect upon women examined under the provisions of this act. (b) That the act recognises and therefore legalises prostitution. (c) That by giving a false sense of security in the minds of men, it actually encourages the vicious.
