The notice need extend very little further than to the literary talents and character of this gentleman. There was, it cannot be concealed, much to be lamented in his apparent disbelief in the evidences of Christianity, and in the eccentricities of his mode of life. To these errors as slight allusion as is consistent with the truth will be made. De mortuis nil nisi bonum.
