Produktbeschreibung
Excerpt from Transactions of the Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, Vol. 6: November, 1912 The resignation of Dr. Carnegie Brown of his position as Joint Secretary of the Society was announced, and a resolution expressing sincere regret at his resignation, and appreciation of the services he had rendered to the Society, which had been already passed by the Council, was unanimously endorsed by the Meeting. The President announced that Dr. G. C. Low had been appointed by the Council to take the place of Dr. Carnegie Brown as one of the Honorary Secretaries of the Society. I have felt strongly that one of the duties of your President, daring the two years of his tenure of his office, should be to read a paper upon some branch of our subject, and it is mainly under this strong sense of duty that I am claiming your attention to-night by raising the subject of blackwater fever. I have selected this subject for two reasons, first because I think it a useful procedure from time to time to bring forward for discussion some disease of whose full understanding we are still ignorant, with a view to a free interchange of opinion on the debatable points, in a sense a sort of stocktaking which may impress on our minds what we are to consider as settled, and which are the points that await complete elucidation. Blackwater fever has not been mentioned among us for some time, and that is the first of my reasons for originating what I trust may be a full discussion of its etiology.
