Also new Special Indications for several of the remedies. P. 6. line 3, read - Sulphur, Carbon, and Phosphorus in the organism are not present free, but as integral parts of organic combination. Sulphur and Carbon are contained in albumen; Carbon in the carbo-hydrates (such as sugar, starch), and in the products of the metamorphoses of organic substances. P. 7, after line 7, read - Phosphorus is contained in the lecithin and in the nuclei. The sulphur of the albumen becomes oxidized by the oxygen of the air breathed, and is turned into sulphuric acid. The latter combines with the bases of the carbonates, and turns into sulphates by driving off the carbonic acid. P. 11, line 13. - The individual cell receives only a fraction of the 64 trillions of atom-groups of which the 4 milligrames of iron are composed. P. 12, paragraph 2, after line 4. - The phrase, "much helps much," is founded on a traditional error, and by its consequences may become pernicious. P. 13, end of 10th line from the bottom, read - But the quantity of phosphate of lime intended for the bone, not getting into the bone-cells, would form a surplus or excess in the blood, if it were not eliminated by the kidneys. It is the office of the latter to keep the blood in its integrity, and therefore all foreign substances and all excess of component parts the kidneys must carry off. P. 13, 8 lines from the foot, read - "Disease is an altered state of cell," says Virchow. Health is therefore a normal state of cell.
