Laurence Johnson is an alcoholic. After another night on the booze he wakes up to find that his home town is deserted. He finds a girl by the name of Chloe Jones cowering inside the abandoned chemists. He asks her where everybody is. She tells him that the army came and took everyone away because the spiders were coming. Soon Laurence and Chloe are trapped in Laurences house, surrounded by mutated killer spiders. Laurence begins to suspect that the biggest threat to his life might not be the spiders, but the girl he unwittingly rescued. Doctor Briggs is leading his team into Newtown. He thinks that he has the answer to the spider problem that has crippled the town. But time is against him, soon the spiders will be swarming to the nearest city and if they do, then the army will unleash war on the spiders. The loss of life could be catastrophic if Doctor Briggs fails to bring the mutations under control. But Briggs gets sidetracked by a woman looking for a lift back to Newtown. She has got word that her husband is still alive inside the sea of mutated creatures.
