Desert, Me., from July 6 to 9, 1886. The opening meeting was called to order by the president, Hon. J. W. Patterson, of New Hampshire, on the evening of the 6th. In the unavoidable absence of Gov. Robie, who expected to deliver the address of welcome, Rev. F. A. Palmer, of Bar Harbor, welcomed the visitors to the hospitalities of the village, while State Superintendent Luce extended a welcome on behalf of the state.
